Kuraga 3 lamp

The Kuraga (Jellyfish) lamp is made out of fiber optic cables (1,5mm in diameter) that gives it a very soft illumination. The brightness can be altered by changing the size of the curve.

Microsoft Sphere vs Sphere-o-poly

What do I see here in my search through the world wide web? My Sphere-o-poly project has been finished for a couple of months, and now, Microsoft introduces the Microsoft Sphere.

The Microsoft Sphere is a Spherically shaped object that brings interaction and interface design to a new level. No more boring 2 dimensional displays.

The system works with a beamer and IR camera that projects images, and detects movement on the glass surface. The same system I used in the Sphere-o-poly. (more…)

Apple Macbook TOUCH??

We all know that there’s no company that has more rumors about it’s products than Apple. This time, it’s not an other iPhone ore iPod, but a new Macbook that is taking the Apple fan boys by storm. Rumor has it that Apple is about to release the Macbook Touch in October. The Macbook Touch would be an iPhone like Macbook, with a display roughly the size of the one in the current macbooks, a multi touch interface, accelerometer and gps like the iphone and much more, for a reasonable price. Comparable with the new HP Touch Smart PC. Will there truly be an Apple Macbook Touch in stores around the world? We can only wait until October.

B-membrane by Won-Seok Lee

Korean designer Won-Seok Lee has developed a new and exciting concept for a portable computer. He didn’t pick the typical notebook form factor for his B-membrane that everyone does. The result of this is a strange yet fascinating UFO like white design that , instead of using a LCD display, projects its images in the direction you want. The device also features a membrane keyboard that appears when needed and an integrated optical drive to play your favorite DVD’s,… When the B-membrane isn’t working, it switches to it’s ambient lighting mode. BMW GINA Visionary Concept

It seems that German automaker BMW has produced another groundbreaking concept. It’s easy to see that the BMW GINA Visionary is more than just a car with a magnificent design.

The body of the car, which is usually made from metal, is replaced with highly durable and expansion-resistant fabric that’s sprawled across a metal wire structure. This way, the shape of the car can by easily adjusted by the driver. I don’t know about you, but I like it. (more…)

Fujitsu Ultra-Mobile PC by Antenna Design

A while ago, they announced the winners of the Cooper-Hewit National Design Awards of 2008. Each year, they honor outstanding peaces of design in the fields of Architecture, Communication Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Landscape Design and Product Design. This year, the winners were Tom Kundig, Scott Stowell, Ralph Rucci, Rockwell Group, Olin Partnership and Antenna Design. The last one especially took my attention with the Fujitsu Ultra-Mobile PC. It’s an ultra portable notebook pc that is made of three foldable leaves to create a much smaller area than the current notebooks. When it’s unfolded, you get a full sized keyboard. Splash Lounge chair: slow motions splash chair

If you ever crave for a refreshing dive in a swimming pool, we’ve got the perfect chair for you. The ultra kitsch Splash Lounge chair from designer Michael Wendel is inspired by the well known slow motion videos of objects falling into liquid surfaces. Sadly, we wont be ably to buy it, due to the fact that it’s only a prototype, and it might stay that way.
