Volvo Recharge concept

september 11th, 2007 by admin

Looks like there’s another environmentally friendly hybrid car born, and in contrast to the all popular Toyota Prius(if you can spot Paris Hilton in a Prius, you know they are popular), the Swedish at Volvo have produced a pretty good looking one. (and a minimal white paintjob off course never hurts new car concepts).

Not only is it a good looking, low emission producing and low fuel consuming hybrid like others in the field. It also features some new high tech techniques. A feature that is very special on this car is the in my opinion somewhat underrated technique of in wheel motors (this is the idea that every wheel is actually a motor, where the tire is directly rotated by the magnetic field of the electromotor, and no energy conversion is needed like in the transmition of regular cars). More of that in this video at autojunk.nl.
