Phonofone by Science and Sons

Phonophone1 The blub’s first reaction after seeing the following pieces? Scandinavian design is back, and how?

Science and Sons, the Toronto(Canada) based design collaborative between Heather Schibli and Tristan Zimmermann, has a bunch of see worthy products in their collection (look at Plastidermy for example).

The piece that took my attention first was their Phonofone, an iPod accessory that really tops them all. Both Phonofone 1 and Phonofone 2 are iPod docks that uses the sound from our beloved iPod ear buds and amplifies the sound purely by horn acoustics (no external power needed) up to 55dB.

It’s made entirely out of ceramic (low environmental impact, rigid and gives it an authentic feeling). And god, do I have to tell you that it simply looks stunning?
